Meet Me – Eric Mills
my city: Chicago, IL
school: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
major: Junior of Computer Science in Engineering
I am an entrepreneur and web application developer and designer. I am always building on new ideas. I am 21 years old and love what I do. I have over five years of web and graphic experience. I started crearc over 4 years ago. I would get job referrals from my brothers’ connections, but I never set up my internet identity. I finally got around to building this website in the summer of 2011 when I received additional work. I hope to grow this venture, but in the future I want to be branch off and do new things.
I played football in high school and I enjoy salsa dancing. I’m what you would call a nerd-jock. I love the University of Illinois and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Languages I know a little:
MIPS, PHP, various databases
Hadoop, Hive, Twitter Storm, EC2 Services
Programs I use:
Adobe Photoshop, Sublime Text, Emacs
Ubuntu, Arch Linux (Cinnarch)
Frameworks I know:
Django, Tornado, Node.js, jQuery, Backbone.js, Socket.IO, Git, SQLAlchemy, WordPress, Drupal
I created the arching logo about 3 years ago and have never stopped loving it. It was an accident. I made a normal arch as you normally see in a doorway, but I messed up and skewed one side. Crearc was born and it only took about 5 minutes. It took until I started the website to find the font that you see now.
The Word Crearc
I created the word crearc because it has meaning behind it. The “cre” portion of the word symbolizes creativity and the power that that characteristic holds. The “arc” has a little history. I used to go under the name “forix,” defined as arch in latin. I liked that concept because it conveyed high-end and superiority.
